When it comes to porn, there are 3 kinds of women out there:

-Those who will dump you for watching porn
-Those that are indifferent
-Those that love it and watch it with you.

I have dated all 3 kinds and consider myself an expert on the subject.  Knowing my ex’s opinions plus advising many women friends on the matter, I can tell you it is completely healthy…Most of the time.

There are a lot of “if’s” that go into that statement, of course.  For most men, watching a porn tube is not a way to degrade women or hurt their partner’s feelings.  Most men watch porn to unwind.  Simple as that.  You like to paint your nails or watch “The Bachelor” with a glass of wine?  Men like to jerk off.  If you try to make a man feel guilty or like he is doing something wrong for indulging this natural urge then you will be alone.  Worse, you will be the kind of woman that men hide things from, afraid they will upset you.

In any relationship, communication is key.  If you have shamed your partner into feeling guilty he will have no choice but to lie to you about his habits.  Simply put, men will masturbate.  You can hate it and ask him to keep his habits to himself, and that is as good as you’re going to get!  You can make him feel comfortable by saying “hey, I get it, you masturbate.  Please make sure I’m not around because it does make me kind of uncomfortable.”

Bam.  Or you can privately watch some yourself, see what gets you excited, and share your thoughts with him.  47% of couples have watched porn together, and 83% of them said it brought them closer as a couple.

Of course there are situations when watching porn is excessive and hurts the relationship.

-If he is choosing porn over having sex with you
-If he is looking at illegal content, like child pornography
-If he expects cumshots to be OK with you
-If he expects anything from the videos to occur in real life without discussing it first

If any of the above are going on in your relationship you may need to seek counseling-if he is unresponsive to your telling him that behavior is not OK.  The moral of the story?  Porn is natural and normal under the right circumstances.  If you can’t beat him, join him!
